It was a privilege to be featured in his interview series showcasing the renowned photographers of our country.

How did you get into photography, specifically product photography?

I started taking pictures as a child when my father gave me a popular Smena 8 Russian film camera. He taught me the basics, and my love for photography has followed me ever since.

My wife and I run several businesses together, and within our family, we often needed “professional” photographers for various projects. Unfortunately, many times, we felt that the quality of the work didn’t match the fees we paid. That’s when we decided to “go to school” ourselves, learn photography at a professional level, and invest in high-quality equipment. Once we realized we could create excellent images for our own needs, we thought, why not turn this into a business? That’s how our successful photography business began.

Of course, the learning never stopped. Every year, I participate in workshops, training programs, and even online courses offered by renowned product photographers.

I’ve studied under the incredibly precise Karl Taylor and completed the creative Alex Koloskov’s courses as well.

What motivates you before a photoshoot?

For me, client satisfaction is the ultimate motivator. I want my clients to feel that they’ve achieved their goals if the images are for business purposes. And if it’s a wedding or family shoot, I want them to look back at their photos 20 years later with joy and a smile.

How do you get into the “mood” for photography?

For me, product photography is like fishing for many people—a form of relaxation. Since my work often involves interacting with people, it feels refreshing to lock myself in my studio, adjust my lights, and sometimes recreate a setup ten times until it’s just right.

Do you ever improvise during photoshoots?

All the time! I usually have a rough plan in my head, but the rest is improvisation. A great result depends on so many unpredictable factors. Sometimes, the entire shoot becomes an improvisation because the original plan falls apart.

What’s your favorite part of photography?

I love tackling professional challenges. When I can solve a unique problem or create something that isn’t a typical task, that’s when I thrive. I enjoy projects that require extra knowledge, special equipment, or a creative idea to succeed.

What’s the most interesting memory from your product photography work?

An interesting memory comes from a seemingly simple street photo taken during a product shoot. That image, along with the model featured in it, ranked in the top 3% in the street portrait category of an international competition with thousands of participants.
